African Extreme Promotions
African Extreme Promotions (AEP) was established in 2010 with the aim of establishing, promoting and running extreme sporting events in Namibia and the neighbouring countries. We currently have two events on our calendar, the Namib Quest Mountain Bike stage race and Fish River Ultra 100km Challenge.
The members of AEP are Russell Paschke and Tinus Hansen who between themselves have many years of extreme event experience.
Russell is a former Namibia national triathlete and duathlete who has represented Namibia at three African Triathlon Championship events in the past. He has also competed in the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon, the Absa Cape Epic mountain bike stage race, the Two Oceans Ultra Marathon, the 220km 5 day Namib Desert Challenge stage running race, RacingThePlanet: Namibia as well as RTP: Australia (both 250km 6 day stage running races) as well as numerous Adventure Races. He is also, together with two other Namibians (Fish River Record), the current record holder for completing the Fish River Canyon hiking trail. He has a vast amount of hands on experience in terms of extreme sporting events, and as such knows what works and what doesn’t as well as what competitors are looking for in these events.
Tinus has a vast amount of knowledge of Namibia and the various parts of the country that are still pristine wild areas. He has undertaken numerous adventure trips over the years, the most extreme of which would undoubtedly be his attempt to paddle down the crocodile infested Kunene River to the coast. He has also been exposed to extreme sporting events and recently completed the 220km Namib Desert Challenge as well. He has 25 years of experience in both the corporate as well as private business world and has successfully run his own business for the past 5 years. He has extreme organisational and planning skills which will be utilised in ensuring high quality and well organised events.
